Your Empowered Hospital Birth: Essentials

This one-day express class delivers the essentials of hospital birth preparation, empowering you to approach birth as an active participant rather than a passive patient. With seven years of experience as a doula specializing in unmedicated hospital births, I’m passionate about supporting others in their journey. My own powerful and transformative hospital birth fueled my deep love for childbirth!

This class uses a "toolkit" approach to birth preparation. Instead of focusing on a single method, I provide a variety of tools that have been beneficial in both my personal birth experiences and those of my clients. Additionally, I offer valuable information on how to care for yourself and your baby throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period. Together, we’ll explore:
  • What to expect during early labor, active labor, transition, pushing, and immediately after birth
  • Labor and birth comfort measures (non-drug pain relief) -- breathing techniques and SO much more!
  • How to break out of the fear-tension-pain cycle and give birth in your power
  • Making informed pregnancy and birth decisions based on reliable, evidence-based research tailored to you
  • Communication! Key for both your relationship and working with your birth team
  • Clarifying your birth preferences
  • Breastfeeding
  • Newborn care
  • Postpartum mental health and self-care
This course is a full day focused on the essentials of preparing to give birth in the hospital, with a focus on preparing for an unmedicated birth.
